I am excited to share that a little while ago I traveled to South Bend, Indiana to meet with Vicki, Jenny and other members of
The Sewing Lab at Sew Loved, a 501c3 nonprofit that trains underserved and marginalized women to sew, and connects them with living-wage jobs (among other community-outreach projects).
I am so thankful for the support of countless families to make this all possible.
7 years ago, I sewed my first pair of baby shoes for my son at our kitchen table - a craft project that I didn't think much of at the time. Today, with your help, these little shoes are still 100% handmade, but they're also providing an income for our small team of local work-from-home sewists, and for these inspiring women in South Bend too.
The Sewing Lab Story
After 6 years of teaching sewing to underserved women and at-risk teens, in 2018 Sew Loved partnered with Vested Interest to create a new initiative, The Sewing Lab (TSL) in South Bend, Indiana. TSL teaches industrial sewing to provide students training for the thousands of unfilled sewing jobs in their region.

Cabooties sewn at Sew Loved have been produced by trainees of that program. With every purchase, you create job training for living-wage employment opportunities, handing these students the keys to unlock their full potential.
